Avoid the Hot Seat
It’s already crazy hot in NYC, and I do mean hot. People assume that, being from the South, I am used to humidity. I can say without hesitation that summers in NYC are a trillion times worse than summers in the South. Why? There are many reasons, the main one being that Manhattan is a city of cement, glass and steel: basically a walk-in convection oven for those of us that live here. There is no air circulation, no family car to jump into and wait, no escape.
Happily, there’s a product on the market called the “Cool Mee” Seat Liner by meeno Babies. The box is cute enough: a penguin! Penguins=cool, right? The seat liner is constructed of three layers: mesh to wick moisture away, a layer of insulation that acts as a cushion, and another mesh layer. This product is made of 100% polyester, and I know some of you out there shun this material because it’s not cotton or wool.
Ehhh, you win some, you lose some.
This is a great product, and really helps with air circulation and prevents BabySwampAss and BabySoggyBack. Granted, sweat is still going to be there—you cannot avoid that. BUT, you won’t have to wring their clothes out before you let people hug them.
The meeno Babies “Cool Mee” Seat Liner is also universal and fits in several strollers that I tried out….in my apt. Sometimes I feel like I need a show called “Baby Gear Hoarders.”
SIDENOTE: meeno Babies also makes car seat liners. This is a controversial topic I thought I’d just get out of the way. On the box, meeno states the liners have been crash-tested. Just know that ANY third-party product you place in a car seat (liners, footmuffs, etc) VOID the manufacturer’s warranty, so use these at YOUR OWN discretion. ‘Nuff said.
