Peg Perego Siesta
Siesta: a rest or nap after the midday meal.
High chair: an often hideous chair covered in gross fabrics, that aids in feeding infants, only to aggravate the caregiver with cleaning and loss of adult design sensibilities.
Peg Perego Siesta: a sleek high chair that is NAILING IT.
How many times have you seen ugly high chairs? Don't be ashamed–you might even own one! Peg Perego, that omni-present Italian manufacturer of baby goods, wants to change this–and they're doing a bang-up job. I was first introduced to PP high chairs back when I began working retail when I had to demo the Prima Pappa Rocker–a high chair that had a rocking chair mechanism that unfolded from the legs, which then converted the chair into a rocker. I thought it was fun, others didn't. That feature soon disappeared, and their high chairs have slowly evolved into the Siesta.
Let's begin with the seat. Approved from birth-45 lbs and featuring NINE different seat heights, the Siesta offers you multiple heights for which your little dear can rest, recline, eat, play, or throw food all over your kitchen! Multiple seat heights also mean your little one can hang out close to you while you're cooking, cleaning, or typing, as well as keeping them away from older siblings or pets who might not quite now how to handle an infant. Speaking of mess, the tray has a removable top layer which is dishwasher-safe which comes in VERY handy.
The eco-leather upholstery is really plush and very easy to wipe clean, and comes in a variety of eye-catching colors. The seat features a five-point harness, as well as a crotch bar integrated into the seat, so if the tray is off and the harness is being taken off (or put on), your precious angel will not slide out (side note: many high chairs have these bars, but they're affixed to the tray which does NO good). As I mentioned, the seat has a great one-handed recline, as well as a multi-position foot rest. Grayson, my nephew, enjoys sitting in his so much I am kind of jealous. There's also a great storage pouch on the back of the seat to keep wipes and what-not handy
Need to move the chair around? The Siesta has wheels that have an autolock feature, so press the STOP&GO buttons to push the chair around. This is a WONDERFUL feature, and has stopped my nieces from pushing my nephew around the house and most certainly crashing him into a wall.
The Siesta also has a VERY compact fold for storage–and you can either take the tray off and hang it on the back, or fold the tray up with the seat, leaving it as one unit.
If you're in the market for a functional high chair, as well as one that's great-looking, look no further than the Siesta.
The Peg Perego Siesta retails for $299.99 and is available at Magic Beans and other juvenile retailers.
